About iArts
The 'Information Age' in which we are living is not only dense with textual information, it is visually rich as well. There is a need to comprehend the messages that are embedded in images, to explore non-verbal communication, and to learn more about assigning order to the visual universe.
iArts was started in the fall of 2002. Under the leadership of Jon Haupt, a group of students came together to learn more about arts-oriented librarianship and to discover the artists and creative arts interests among students at the iSchool. The arts act as a unifying field for the various programs within the iSchool, a meeting ground for creative minds, no matter how each applies their creativity.
The iArts group supports the annual iSchool Art Show, curated by Dowell Eugenio. Enriching the visual environment while drawing out hidden aspects of the student body are positive outcomes of the show.
iArts welcomes investigation into all the arts. iArts has recently merged with the Bookarts Interest Group so look toward more links and examples for the bookarts at this site. Let us know what you want to explore in iArts.
