Exercise 10

There are many readings listed on the various pages of the INFO 424 web site. There are many more available in the library system at UW and online. Choose a reading dealing with some aspect of aesthetics and the visualization of information. Write a review or critique.

    Format your critique in the manner of Slate or Salon:

  • Use a column of text about 45 - 60 characters wide
  • Place a rubric in the upper left-hand corner
  • In a left-hand column, place directional links to sub elements of your critique
  • Illustrate your critique appropriately
  • Choose an appropriate font

In another document explain the rationale for your formatting.

There are an increasing number of "punk aesthetic" web sites. Choose one and critique its design. In particular, discuss how it confounds conventional expectations of the visual presentation of information.
